Women Fall to Aurora University 4-0

The women's soccer program lost a hard fought game to Aurora University on Sunday, Sept. 18, 4-0. Aurora wasted little time getting on the board when junior midfielder Lauren Thomas tried crossing the ball across the front of the goal and it hit Lakeland senior defender Briana Plautz and bounced into the net just 23 seconds into the match.

In the eighth minute of the game senior Corey Krysiak crossed the ball across the field from the goal line to sophomore Lyndsey Mica. Mica took the ball and crossed it back across the goal to freshman forward Allison Bailey who was waiting in front of the net and put it in from six yards out, giving Aurora a 2-0 lead.

In the second half Aurora found themselves up 3-0 when Bailey took a shot that deflected off of a Muskie defender and into the net in the 59th minute.

In the 80th minute Aurora added one more goal when junior Erin Kwiatkowski shot a ball from the top left corner of the box, it deflected through junior goalkeeper Alli Weiss's hands and slowly rolled across the line.

The women travel to Mount Mary in Milwaukee on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for a 4:30p.m. match. They will return home on Saturday, Sept. 24 to kick-off the conference season against Maranatha Baptist at 1p.m.
