Alli Weiss broke the record for career shutouts for Lakeland as the Muskie soccer program defeated Maranatha Baptist Bible College 2-0 at Muskie Field on Sept. 24. The offense for the Muskies came out early and scored two first half goals to lift Lakeland to the victory.
In the 21st minute senior Nicki Willes put the Muskies up 1-0 with her goal. In the 32nd minute freshman Amy Christenson scored to put Lakeland up 2-0.
The Muskie defense would play a strong second half by not allowing a shot on goal to preserve the lead for the victory. Junior goalkeeper Alli Weiss was an anchor on the defensive end as she tallied six saves, all in the first half, en route to capturing her spot in the Lakeland history books with her 16th career shutout.
Lakeland improved to 4-3-1 overall and 1-0 in LMC play. They will take on Edgewood on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Madison for a 7p.m. game.
