The Lakeland Muskies dropped a tough match to the Edgewood Eagles in Madison on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1-0.
"Edgewood put the pressure on us in the first half," said head coach Marc Colwell. "I thought we responded really well in the second half and we were able to put a lot of pressure on them during the second half. We hope to get a chance to play them again come tournament time. I am happy with the way we responded."
Edgewood scored the only goal of the match when senior Holly Clemens took a cross from sophomore Rebecca Miller six yards out and one touched it into the goal.
The Muskies were dominated in the first half as they allowed Edgewood to fire off 12 shots. In the second half Lakeland played better defensively and responded by putting pressure on Edgewood. Junior goalkeeper Alli Weiss recorded nine saves on the evening for the Muskies.
The women will travel to Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 1 for an LMC match that starts at 1p.m.
