The Lakeland women's soccer team finished off a 2-0 weekend in convincing fashion with a 9-1 victory over Finlandia University (2-14 overall) in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Hancock, Mich.
One day after shutting out Alverno 7-0, the Muskies (8-6, 4-3 Northern Athletics Conference) took it to the Lions despite a somewhat sloppy first half.
"It took us a little while to find our groove," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "We were up 4-0 after the first half, but we were impatient in our attacks. We made some adjustments and played much better in the second half."
Senior forward
Amy Christenson (Dodgeville) and freshman midfielder
Brittney Smit (St. Cloud) led the offensive front with two goals apiece. Senior forward
Megan Stock (Libertyville, Ill.) picked

up two assists.
"We had much better chances in the second half and were able to put them in the back of the net," Madsen said. "Figuring out our attack will definitely help us in the long run as well."
The team returns to conference action on Thursday to host Maranatha Baptist at 3:30 p.m.
