The Lakeland College women's soccer team is happy to return to friendly confines today when it hosts Mount Mary University in a non-conference match at 4 p.m. on the campus soccer field.
The Muskies have lost their last six matches, including four straight in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play, and are now 2-10 overall on the season. Lakeland has played a brutal slate to start the conference season, facing perhaps four of the league's best teams in Concordia Wisconsin, Aurora, Edgewood and Dominican. Most recently, the Muskies were defeated by Dominican 7-0 on Saturday on the road in River Forest, Ill.
Mount Mary enters with a 2-7-1 record. The Blue Angels from Milwaukee, who compete as an NCAA Division III independent, are coming off a 9-1 loss to Alverno on Saturday when the team played with just 10 players.
The two teams have one common opponent in Eureka (Ill.). The Muskies defeated Eureka 9-0 on Sept. 6, while the day before that Mount Mary won a classic matchup between the Blue Angels and Eureka's Red Devils by a 5-1 score.
