St. Norbert picks up two wins over Muskies

DE PERE – St. Norbert College made a cold day even more difficult for the Lakeland College baseball team, registering a pair of wins over the Muskies Tuesday afternoon.

The Green Knights completed a 13-4 win over the Muskies in the completion of a suspended game from April 20th, and then went on to a 10-0 win in seven innings in the following regularly scheduled non-conference game.

Lakeland (9-20 overall) faced a 12-3 deficit when the suspended game resumed in the top of the eighth inning, and both teams scored a run in the eighth. The Muskies got their run when Sam Martin (Jr.-Milton, Wis.) led off the inning with a single, Brooks Repking (Fr.-Hamburg, Wis.) singled him over to third, and then both runners moved up with Martin scoring on a wild pitch.

Ryan Oharriz (Fr.-Pembroke Pines, Fla.) pitched the final two innings for Lakeland and allowed one hit and an unearned run while striking out four.

The Muskies could get little going offensively in the scheduled game, mustering just three hits. Luke Bacci (Sr.-Grayslake, Ill.), Jared Rear (Sr.-Belleville, Wis.) and Connor Hilburn (Fr.-Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) had the lone hits, though Lakeland did advance runners as far as third base twice as a result of four St. Norbert errors.

The Muskies committed four errors of their own, though, and the Green Knights (13-10 overall) took advantage over the final four innings. James Antley (Fr.-Luling, La.) kept St. Norbert off the scoreboard until the fourth inning, and the hosts added two in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh, including five unearned runs.

Antley pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed five hits and six runs, but just one of the runs was earned. He also added five strikeouts while walking four before Joey McNaught (Fr.-Albany, Wis.) covered the final inning-plus and allowed four runs.

Lakeland is back in action Friday when it travels to face Dominican (Ill.) University for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. The games will be played at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg, Ill.
