Muskies close men’s tennis season with loss to Concordia

KOHLER – The Lakeland College men's tennis team saw its season come to a close with a 9-0 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday afternoon at Sports Core.

The Muskies struggled to win many games against one of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, as the Falcons improved to 16-7 overall and 7-1 in the NACC. Lakeland finished off a 0-13 season and concluded 0-8 in conference matches.

Dakota Hunter (Fr.-Waukesha, Wis.) came the closest of all Muskies, nearly winning the first set at Number 5 singles before surrendering to Robert Spiering 7-5, 6-1. Dylan Skewis (Jr.-Ishpeming, Mich.) won two games at No. 6 singles but lost to Jonathan Schotte 6-0, 6-2, while Greg Boknevitz (Sr.-St. Francis, Wis.) was defeated 6-0, 6-1 by Benjamin Nommensen at No. 1 singles.

Hunter and Jared Nummerdor (Fr.-Waupun, Wis.) had the best showing in doubles play, falling to Christian Docter and Ceejay Schaffner 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The dual match was the final one for three Lakeland seniors, including Boknevitz, ShoSean Fujino (Tokyo, Japan) and Carlos Rodriguez (Chicago, Ill.).
