Muskies defeated by MSOE in NACC men’s tennis action

KOHLER – The Lakeland University men's tennis team faced one of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and was swept in nine matches by Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday afternoon at Sports Core.

The Muskies are still searching for their first dual win of the season but had one of their more competitive performances, nearly winning two sets in singles play against MSOE (7-15 overall, 6-1 NACC). Dakota Hunter (So.-Waukesha, Wis.) made his season debut with the team, joining after the men's volleyball season, and was defeated 6-4, 6-0 by Tyler Haanen at Number 3 singles. Kenichi Yamamoto (Fr.-Tokyo, Japan) also won four games in the second set in a 6-0, 6-4 loss to Michael Korbut at No. 5 singles.

Nick Lange (Fr.-Mukwonago, Wis.) also was defeated 6-2, 6-0 by Ryan Runke at No. 2 singles, while Jared Nummerdor (So.-Waupun, Wis.) fell to Austin Campbell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Yamamoto and Dylan Skewis (Sr.-Ishpeming, Mich.) had the best result in doubles play, falling to Korbut and Curt Norton 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. Lange and Andrew L'Empereur (Fr.-West Allis, Wis.) also lost to Campbell and Haanen 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Hunter and Nummerdor were defeated by Runke and Mason Sauder at No. 2 doubles by the same score.

Lakeland is in action against Saturday when it travels to face Edgewood College at 10 a.m. in Madison, then swings back to face Marian University at 2 p.m. in Fond du Lac.
