KOHLER – The Lakeland University men's tennis team wrapped up its season with losses to Aurora (Ill.) University and Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday at Sports Core.
Dakota Hunter (
So.-Waukesha, Wis.) nearly had a part in two wins in the Muskies' 9-0 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran in their second match of the day. Hunter won the first set before losing to Jonathan Worrell 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 10-8 at Number 3 singles, and he also teamed with
Jared Nummerdor (
So.-Waupun, Wis.) at No. 2 doubles for a narrow 9-7 loss to Worrell and Matt Plaski.
Lakeland (0-12 overall, 0-8 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) also won four games each at No. 1 and 4 singles, as
Nick Lange (
Fr.-Mukwonago, Wis.) fell 6-2, 6-2 to Derek Sallmann at No. 1 and
Andrew L'Empereur (
Fr.-West Allis, Wis.) was defeated by the same score by Plaski at No. 4 flight.
Kenichi Yamamoto (
Fr.-Tokyo, Japan) and
Dylan Skewis (
Sr.-Ishpeming, Mich.) also won two games in an 8-2 loss to Jake Larson and David Ullerich at No. 3 doubles.
Earlier in the day the Muskies fell to Aurora 9-0, with Lange posting the team's best result. The freshman nearly won the first set at No. 1 singles before falling to David Dobrose 7-5, 6-2.
Hunter and Nummerdor had the team's best doubles result. The duo was defeated 8-3 by Jared Burrow and Robert Salerno at No. 2 doubles.
