KOHLER – Lakeland University opened its men's tennis season with a 9-0 loss to Illinois Institute of Technology Sunday evening in a non-conference dual at Sports Core.

The Muskies faced an Illinois Tech team much further along in its season and won games in just three of nine matches. The Scarlet Hawks, a future Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opponent of Lakeland's when it joins the conference next school year, played their ninth match of the season, including seventh of February, and improved to 6-3.

The No. 2 doubles team of Nick Lange (So.-Mukwonago, Wis.) and Nathaniel Nanda (Fr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) had the best showing with an 8-3 loss to Mike Rivich and Andrew Woltman.

Jared Nummerdor (Jr.-Waupun, Wis.) won a pair of games in a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Yousef Abdo at No. 2 singles. Nanda also won a game while falling to Adam Laitenen 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Lakeland returns to play Saturday when it hosts Calvin (Mich.) College for a dual at 9 a.m. at Sports Core.
