KOHLER – The Lakeland University men's tennis team made a push for a couple wins but was defeated by St. Norbert College Saturday morning at Sports Core.
The Muskies were defeated 9-0 by the Green Knights to open the day to drop to 0-3 on the season. Lakeland then also played a match against Iowa Central Community College and also was defeated 9-0 in its second dual of the day.
The Muskies were led against St. Norbert by
Jared Nummerdor (
Jr.-Waupun, Wis.), who came close in both sets of his match at No. 2 singles against Jordan Crump. Nummerdor was defeated 6-4, 6-4, just missing out on the first set wins of the season for the team.
Lakeland's
Eeshi Vue (
Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) also played well at No. 6 singles before being defeated by Luke Andrekus 6-3, 6-2.
Nick Lange (
So.-Mukwonago, Wis.) and
Nathaniel Nanda (
Fr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) were the Muskies' most competitive team in doubles, falling to Zach Simonet and John Zanotti 8-1.
Nummerdor also had the team's best showing against Iowa Central, losing 6-0, 6-2 to Nick Fifield at No. 2 singles. Lange also won a game in each set but was defeated by Antony Lekoko 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Lakeland is in action again Sunday when it hosts UW-Superior at 9 a.m. at Sports Core.
