BROOKFIELD, Wis. – Lakeland University earned one win each in both singles and doubles play but was defeated by Wisconsin Lutheran College 7-2 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's tennis dual Wednesday afternoon at Elite Sports Club.
Bill Behrmann (
Jr.-Long Lake, Wis.) became the first Muskie to win multiple singles matches this season, defeating WLC's Jake Brandt 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Lakeland also added a win at No. 3 doubles as
Yuki Sakata (
Fr.-Japan) and
Eeshi Vue (
Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) picked up an 8-4 win over Brandt and Jake Larson.
The Muskies (1-6 overall, 1-2 NACC) were competitive in almost every match in both singles and doubles. The closest misses in singles came with
Nick Lange (
So.-Mukwonago, Wis.) falling to Jonny Wordell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Vue losing by the same score to Larson at No. 6 singles.
Lange and
Nathaniel Nanda (
Fr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) also were defeated 8-4 by Matt Plaski and Jeremy Ryno at No. 2 doubles.
Jared Nummerdor (
Jr.-Waupun, Wis.) and
Dylan Skewis (
Sr.-Ishpeming, Mich.) also lost to Wordell and David Ullerich 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Lakeland is idle for the next week before facing Milwaukee School of Engineering on the road next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
