KOHLER – The Lakeland University men's tennis team was defeated by Edgewood College and Marian University in a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's tennis duals Saturday at Sports Core.
Edgewood swept the first match by a 9-0 count before the Muskies lost a close 6-3 decision to Marian in the second. Lakeland is now 1-9 overall this season and 1-5 in NACC play.
The Muskies scored a pair of wins against Marian by default and also added a victory at No. 2 doubles.
Nick Lange (
So.-Mukwonago, Wis.) and
Yuki Sakata (
Fr.-Japan) scored a hard-earned 8-5 win over Marian's Ryan Biffert and Lawson MacDonald, one of a number of competitive matches between the teams.
Lange was close to taking the first set at No. 1 singles, but the Sabres' Danny Roe pulled out the first set and then rolled in the second to win 7-5, 6-0.
Jared Nummerdor (
Jr.-Waupun, Wis.) also lost to Joey Dittman 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and
Nathaniel Nanda (
Fr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Brandon Ruis at No. 3 singles.
The Muskies had their best results against Edgewood at No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Sakata was defeated by Sabastion Seeger 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3, while
Eeshi Vue (
Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) fell against Zhen Hao Lee by the same score at No. 6 singles.
Lakeland hosts again for its next match when it takes on Concordia University Wisconsin at 4 p.m. next Friday, April 27, at Sports Core.
