Lakeland hosts Rockford for women's soccer tilt

The Lakeland University women's soccer team plays its second straight home match and attempts to start a new streak against Rockford University when it hosts the Regents Friday night at 7 p.m. at Taylor Memorial Field.

The Muskies have won 12 of 13 meetings all-time against Rockford, but the Regents broke through for their first win last year with a 1-0 win on their home field, stopping Lakeland's 12-game winning streak in the series.

Lakeland (1-1-1 overall) comes into the match off its first loss of the season on Tuesday, a 1-0 defeat to Maranatha Baptist. The Muskies nearly doubled the Sabercats' shot attempts with a 20-11 advantage, but Maranatha scored the game's lone goal in the 83rd minute to win.

Rockford plays for the first time in nearly a week, since dominating Eureka (Ill.) 7-1 last Saturday for its first win of the season. Erin DiSanti scored three times to lead the Regents, who lost to Greenville (Ill.) 9-0 in their season opener.
