Series history: 19th meeting, Aurora leads 17-0-1
The Muskies continue their quest for a first-ever win over the Spartans that dates back to the teams' first-ever meeting in 2002, a 2-0 Aurora win. The Spartans won the most recent meeting with a 6-0 victory Nov. 19, 2019 in Illinois. Lakeland did pick up its first-ever tie with Aurora in their last meeting at Taylor Field, earning a 0-0 draw Oct. 13, 2018 despite being outshot 19-5 and surrendering 18 corner kicks. Erin Tomlinson made nine saves in the match for the shutout.

Lakeland last time out: Lost at MSOE 9-0 Wednesday
The Muskies suffered a fifth straight shutout loss against a merciless schedule that has included games against a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams followed by three of the top five teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference preseason poll. Haley Rich made 17 saves in goal but the Raiders scored four times in the first half and five more in the second half, part of a 40-3 advantage in shot attempts. Roza Bonner (two) and Hope Cerney (one) combined for Lakeland's three shot attempts.

Aurora last time out: Tied Concordia Chicago 0-0 (2 OT) Wednesday
The Spartans remained winless but did carve out their second tie of the season with a scoreless draw at home Wednesday night against the Cougars. Aurora outshot Concordia 11-5, including eight shots on goal, but could not break through in its third NACC game of the season. Kelsey Deck made three saves for the Spartans.

About the Spartans: Aurora also has a tie with North Park (Ill.) in its season opener but lost five straight before its tie Wednesday, including conference losses to Concordia Wisconsin (8-0 score) and St. Norbert (5-2). The Spartans finished 1-4 in their 2021 spring season but were a power in their early NACC years, winning nine consecutive regular season titles from 2006-14 and eight conference tournament crowns in that span as well.

Knocking on the door: Forward Roza Bonner is still scoreless in her first season with the Muskies, but the freshman has consistently had opportunities to the point where her first goal seems to be just a matter of time. Bonner has attempted at least two shots in five of her six games played and at least one shot in all six games. She leads the team with six shots on goal and is tied with fellow freshman Virginia Perez for the team lead in shot attempts (11).
