PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Chad Cowart (Fr.-Antioch, Ill.) and Matt Crowley (So.-Omro, Wis.) both continued successful weekends and the Lakeland University men's wrestling team earned its first dual win of the season as part of the Lakeland Duals held Saturday at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies defeated Joliet Junior College 21-11 in their first dual of the day for their first win of the season. Lakeland would finish the day with a 1-1 record after falling to Bryant & Stratton College 27-18 in its second dual.

Cowart picked up two wins on Saturday and including a win against Carthage College Friday night improved to 3-0 on the weekend. He took the team individual lead with 11 wins on the season, first defeating Andrew Hesse of Joliet J.C. in a 10-5 decision and then pinning Jordan Dininny of Bryant & Stratton in 2 minutes, 3 seconds in the second match. Cowart has won four consecutive matches going back to the CCIW Duals last week, and also scored his second close decision win this season over Hesse.

Crowley also followed up a win on Friday against Carthage with another win Saturday. He defeated Graham Young of Bryant & Stratton by fall in 2:57 and finished the weekend without a loss including a win by forfeit against Joliet J.C.

Cowart and Crowley accounted for all three of Lakeland's wins on the mat Saturday. The Muskies also picked up four wins by forfeit and also had a trio of close losses. Tyler Salvino (Jr.-Lombard, Ill.) was defeated by Nick Minnito of Joliet J.C. 3-1 at 141 lbs., while Tyler Lovejoy (So.-Brandon, Wis.) also was defeated 9-7 by Tony Pacetti of Joliet at 174 lbs. Aleksandar Pejovski (Fr.-Merrillville, Ind.) also lost a closely contested match at 149 lbs., falling to Jalin Conner of Bryant & Stratton 3-2.
