Box Score LOVES PARK, Ill. – Alondra Reyes (Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) scored in the 71st minute to break a tie and the Lakeland University women's soccer team held on for a 3-2 win over Rockford University Saturday afternoon.

The Muskies snapped an eight-match losing streak and picked up their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win of the year. Lakeland also avenged an overtime loss to the Regents last year and won for the fourth time this season, improving to 4-9 overall (1-7 NACC).

Reyes scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to put the Muskies ahead less than five minutes after Rockford's Rianna Tovar had tied the score. Reyes redirected a left-side free kick by Hanna Brouch (So.-Kaukauna, Wis.), deflecting it inside the left post for the go-ahead goal.

The goal capped an eventful 35 minutes of scoring between the two teams, which started after the Regents (3-9 overall, 1-7 NACC scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute. Faith Turley (Jr.-Lincoln, Ill.) answered Rockford's first goal with an unassisted tally for her first goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1.

The Muskies would get another goal just before halftime, as Brouch struck a free kick over goalkeeper Elizabeth Elison for her fifth goal of the season and giving Lakeland a 2-1 lead. Rockford would answer with Tovar's goal at 65:41 of the match before the Muskies responded.

Lakeland still faced some challenges late. The Regents got off five shots in the last 20 minutes and also were awarded three corner kicks. The last two came with less than two minutes left, but the Muskies defense cleared both.

Haley Rich (Sr.-West Chicago, Ill.) made four saves to get the win in goal. Turley led the team with three shot attempts, including two on goal, and Brouch and Reyes both added two shots each.

Lakeland is home for its next game this coming Wednesday against Edgewood College at 7 p.m. at Taylor Field.
