Box Score ELKHORN, Wis. – Jacob Larson (Sr.-Wauwatosa, Wis.) was part of both victories as the Lakeland University men's tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 loss to Carroll University Saturday at the Four Lakes Athletic Club.

Larson picked up the Muskies' lone singles win of the day, defeating Luke Barter at Number 2 singles in three sets, 4-6, 6-0, 10-6. He also teamed up with Nick Larson (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) at No. 1 doubles to defeat Barter and Ian Hofland 8-3.

Lakeland was competitive throughout its flights even in defeat in both singles and doubles. The nearest miss in singles came from freshman Luke Roe (Plymouth, Wis.), who fell to Ryan Strupp at No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-4. Fellow freshman Rob Grimes (Plymouth, Wis.) also dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Ben Pierson at No. 5 singles, and Alessandro Bianchi (Jr.-Venice, Italy) fell to Jordan Nowell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

The Muskies are back on the court Sunday in Ripon when they face Ripon College and then take on Milwaukee Area Technical College.
