Series history: 27th meeting, Lakeland leads 18-7-1
The Muskies and Sabercats have been regular opponents since their first meeting in 1998 but today are playing for the first time since 2018. Maranatha won that matchup 1-0 here at Taylor Field as Alexis Sponable scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute. Lakeland's last win over MBU came the year before with a 2-0 victory at home Sept. 8, 2017 as Hope Cerney scored the first goal on a penalty kick and Jenna Borts also added a goal. The Muskies won the first 16 meetings against Maranatha Baptist, but since then the Sabercats have won seven of the last ten with a tie also included.

Lakeland last time out: Won at Finlandia 1-0 Sunday
The Muskies' Labor Day weekend road travels ended on a positive note with a 1-0 win in the far northern reaches of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Hanna Brouch scored the match's lone goal in the 13th minute with an assist from Alondra Reyes. The goal was Brouch's second game-winning goal of the season. Haley Rich also made seven saves for her third career shutout, and the team's second win of the season already tied the Muskies' win total for all of last season.

Lakeland rebounded from its first loss a day earlier by a 1-0 score at Northland, when the LumberJills scored the match's lone goal late in the first half. In all the Muskies played three matches over four days, starting with a 12-0 blowout of Mount Mary on Friday as Reyes scored four goals, Riley Jahnke added two goals, six others scored one goal each and in all ten different players recorded a goal and/or an assist.

Maranatha Baptist last time out: Lost to Martin Luther (Minn.) 4-0 Saturday
The Sabercats opened their season Saturday falling at home to the Knights, who scored two goals in both halves. Martin Luther scored first just over nine minutes into the match and added a second goal in the 20th minute. The visiting Knights dominated play in the field and finished with a 42-3 advantage in shot attempts. Maranatha goalkeeper Mallory Willette made 16 saves in goal.

One of biggest wins: Lakeland's 12-0 win over Mount Mary in its season opener was the fifth time in school history the Muskies have scored 12 goals or more in a match. It was the fourth time a Lakeland team has scored 12 times, and the first time since a 12-0 win over Robert Morris-Lake County (Ill.) in 2012. The only time a Lakeland women's soccer team has scored more was Sept. 20, 2002, when the Muskies defeated Concordia Chicago 14-0.
