Three members of the Lakeland University baseball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team as the organization announced its season awards Tuesday.
Senior
Tyler LaMack (
Negaunee, Mich.), junior
OakLee Spens (
Burbank, Calif.) and sophomore
Zak Keegan (
Frankfort, Ill.) all received all-district honors. The awards are based on combined performances in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, the nominee must be a starter or regular reserve on their team, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
LaMack recently completed his degree from Lakeland in business administration with a sport management emphasis, and also earlier this week was named an honorable mention all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference pick as a first baseman. Spens is a three-year starter, including this year as the team's starting shortstop, and is majoring in sport management and leadership. Keegan is a two-year starter, including at second base this year, and is majoring in accounting.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.
