PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Lakeland University freshman
Ingrid Steinbock (
Sheboygan, Wis.) was named an honorable mention selection when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its postseason awards for the women's soccer season Thursday morning.
Steinbock gives Lakeland a rare postseason honoree for women's soccer after a fine freshman season as the team's starting goalkeeper. She is the Muskies' first all-conference honoree for women's soccer since Rachel Wilson received the honor in the COVID-19 affected 2020-21 shortened spring season, and is the first Lakeland player to be recognized in a regular full season since Taylor Jahnke was named honorable mention in 2013.
Steinbock played in all 16 games as a freshman, starting 15. She allowed 39 goals for a 2.75 goals against average, making 131 saves and finishing with a .771 save percentage.
Facing more shots than any other goalkeeper in the conference, Steinbock regularly kept Lakeland in matches. The native of Sheobygan and graduate of Oostburg High School posted at least 10 saves in seven matches and allowed one goal or less in six matches, including 10 saves in a shutout tie against Aurora University Oct. 5.
Steinbock leads the NACC in saves per game (8.19) and is tied for third in the conference in saves. Her save percentage also ranks eighth in the NACC.
Lakeland posted a 2-11-3 record this season and finished 1-8-3 in conference to place 11th of 13 teams. The Muskies set a school single-season record with three ties and in losses or ties finished with seven games decided two two goals or less.
