Hall receives NACC’s weekly pitching honor after strong spring break

Lakeland University senior Skylar Hall (Negaunee, Mich.) has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference.

Hall was recognized for her performances on the Muskies' spring break trip of Florida last week, when Lakeland posted a 9-1 record, the program's best-ever record on a spring trip. Hall pitched in five games and posted a 4-1 record with a 1.24 earned run average and five complete games.

Hall pitched 34 innings and allowed 29 hits and 10 runs (six earned) with 17 strikeouts and seven walks. She allowed one run or fewer in four of her five starts and pitched three three-hitters, highlighted by a three-hit shutout of Rutgers University-Camden on March 12.

Hall paced a pitching staff that allowed just 26 runs over 10 games in Florida. Lakeland pitchers have a collective ERA of 2.03 through 12 games this season and have pitched nine complete games.

Hall received the NACC's weekly pitching honor for the second time in her career. She also was named the NACC's top pitcher last year after the Muskies' spring trip, when she finished 4-1 with a 1.03 ERA and allowed just 15 hits in 34 innings with 41 strikeouts.

Lakeland (9-3 overall) is scheduled to begin Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play this Saturday with a trip to Aurora University for a doubleheader starting at noon.
