APPLETON, Wis. –
Morgan Caho (
So.-Canton, Ill.) won a close three-way battle in the men's 200 meters to pace the Lakeland University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams at the Viking Invitational hosted by Lawrence University Friday.
Caho edged Ian Blom of St. Norbert College as well as teammate
Dunia Wangu (
So.-Tanzania) in the third heat of the 200, finishing with a season-best time of 23.37 seconds. Blom finished in 23.39 and Wangu in 23.41, the top three separated by just four one-hundredths of a second.
Caho and Wangu led a total of six individual top-five finishes for the Lakeland men's team. Caho also was third in the high jump, tying his season-best mark of 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches (1.75 meters), while Wangu was fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.79.
Patrick Reilly (
Fr.-Brookfield, Wis.) also came in fourth in the 400, taking more than two seconds off his previous outdoor season best with his finish in 54.33.
Jake Lemke (
Sr.-West Bend, Wis.) also made his season debut in the javelin and came in fifth with a best heave of 144-1 (43.93m).
Cody Vojta (
Fr.-St. Germain, Wis.) also made his debut with the track team and took seventh in the 400 with a clocking of 56.26.
Giovanni Merriweather (
So.-Machesney Park, Ill.) also added season bests in the shot put and discus, finishing 11th in the shot at 30-7 3/4 (9.34m) and 12th in the discus with a mark of 79-3 (24.16m).
Jiaryatou Cisse (
Jr.-Harrison, Mich.) and
Emily Guy (
Jr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) tied for the top individual finishes for the Muskies women's team. Cisse was sixth in the 100 meters, finishing in 14.01, while Guy came in sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.58, nearly half a second better than her previous best mark of the season.
Nailah Jones (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) came in eighth in the 100 in 14.54, and Guy was eighth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:16.49, more than 1 1/2 seconds better than her season best.
Elise (Brill) Torrenga (
So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) was 10th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:37.87, a season-low by more than six seconds, and
Chloe Kobliska (
Fr.-Port Washington, Wis.) led the team in throwing events, taking 15th in the shot put in 25-6 3/4 (7.79m) and 16th in the discus with a season best of 69-3 (21.12m).
Lakeland is next at the St. Norbert College Invitational in De Pere next Saturday, with events beginning at 10 a.m.
