AURORA, Ill. – Playing shorthanded for the second straight day, the Lakeland College women's tennis team closed its season with a 9-0 loss to Aurora (Ill.) University Saturday morning.

The Muskies finished the year with a 0-10 mark overall and in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. As was the case on numerous occasions all season, the team was competitive in a number of matches in its finale but unable to get over the hump for a win.

The closest result came at No. 4 singles, where Carly Brault (So.-Brillion, Wis.) nearly took the first set before falling to Aurora's Haley Cooley 7-5, 6-2. Mikayla Hilton (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) also played a close first set before falling to Jamie Huff at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-2.

Ann Schroeder (Fr.-Lake Mills, Wis.) won two games at No. 2 singles before losing to Micaela Mascha 6-1, 6-1. Courtney Kienast (Fr.-Burlington, Wis.) was defeated by Melanie Findlay at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1, while Chloe Madison defeated Emma Schad (Fr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0.

Schad and Hilton also competed at No. 1 doubles, losing to Madison and Mascha 8-1. Schroeder and Kienast also were defeated by Findlay and Jordan Withey at No. 2 doubles 8-0. With only five players, the Muskies were forced to default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
