MILWAUKEE – Senior Mikayla Hilton (Port Washington, Wis.) finished her Lakeland University women's tennis career in strong fashion with singles wins Saturday in dual matches against Wisconsin Lutheran College and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The team's lone senior this year, Hilton won both of her matches at No. 5 singles on Saturday, defeating WLC's Kendra Bergmann 6-2, 6-1 and MSOE's Olivia Boden 6-0, 6-2. She accounted for two of her team's five wins as Lakeland was defeated 7-2 by Wisconsin Lutheran and 6-3 by MSOC in its final two matches of the season.

The Muskies were again competitive in both matches, posting several wins and playing close in others. Against WLC, Carly Brault (Jr.-Brillion, Wis.) also won at No. 4 singles, defeating Katarina Volkmann 6-2, 6-2, and all three doubles matches were close. Hilton and Emma Schad (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) fell by an 8-4 count at No. 1 singles, Ann Schroeder (So.-Lake Mills, Wis.) and Tyner Strawn (So.-Manitowoc, Wis.) were defeated 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, and Brault and Rachel Conery (Jr.-Vulcan, Mich.) lost 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Conery added a singles win against MSOE, topping Katie Kershaw at No. 6 singles in a close match, 6-4, 6-4. Schroeder and Strawn also added a win at No. 2 doubles, rolling past Boden and Monica Gurdak 8-3. Schroeder also had the team's closest loss in singles play, nearly getting to a tiebreaker in the second set of a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Sammy Soeder at No. 2 singles.

Lakeland finished the season with a 2-11 record and a 1-8 mark in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The overall win total was an improvement of two over last season's mark.

Brault finished as the team's leader in singles wins with a 6-7 record while Hilton also went 5-8 in singles play. Brault also added four doubles wins, and her 3-8 record with Conery tied for the team lead in doubles wins. Schroeder and Strawn also went 3-9 in doubles, and their 3-7 record in conference matches as the team's best.
