DE PERE –Lakeland College again excelled in the throwing events as its men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the St. Norbert College Invitational held Saturday at Donald J. Schneider Stadium.
Mitchell Deniswicz (
So.-Port Washington, Wis.),
Joshua Reisimer (
So.-Port Washington, Wis.) and
Jordan Schreiber (
Sr.-Bowler, Wis.) all posted top-10 finishes in throwing events on the men's side, finishing with season bests to lead the Muskies.
Deniswicz competed in the javelin for the first time this season and finished an impressive fifth, with a best throw of 147 feet 4 inches (44.92 meters). Schreiber was not far behind, coming in eighth with a throw of 142-8 (43.49m). Reisimer also placed seventh in the discus throw with a mark of 137-9 (42.00m).
Schreiber also added a 13th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 125-2 (38.16m) and was 20th in the hammer throw at 112-1 (34.17m). Reisimer also was 19th in both the hammer (116-9, 35.59m) and the shot put, where he finished with a best of 37-1 (11.30m).
Deniswicz also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing 15th of 36 contestants with a time of 52.91 seconds. Teammate
Diante Moses (
Fr.-Houston, Texas) was not far behind with a time of 53.42, nearly one second better than his previous best this season.
Lakeland's best event finish came in the 4 x 100 relay, where Deniswicz, Moses,
Sterling Gladney (
Jr.-Bolingbrook, Ill.), and
Nathaniel Sampson (
Fr.-Rhinelander, Wis.) finished fourth of seven teams with a time of 45.88.
The women's team was again led by
D'Andrea Johnson (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.), who qualified for the finals in the 100 meters with a time of 13.23 seconds. Johnson was slightly off that pace in the final, finishing eighth in 13.49.
Johnson also finished 12th in the 400 with a clocking of 1:06.98, one position ahead of teammate
Shayla Ross (
Fr.-Berwyn, Ill.) and her time of 1:08.94. Ross also finished 13th in the 200 with a time of 29.28.
Nicole Bonilla (
Fr.-Des Plaines, Ill.) also competed in the women's throwing events, finishing a high of 17th in the shot put with a mark of 30-7 1/2 (9.33m). Bonilla also was 18th in the hammer throw (89-0, 27.13m) and discus (80-10, 24.63m) and posted a season-best in the hammer.
Lakeland next will travel to the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by UW-Whitewater this coming Saturday, with events beginning at 10 a.m. Meet information is available at
