RIPON, Wis. – Freshman
Chloe Bartlett (
Canton, Ill.) broke an 11-year old Lakeland University women's indoor track & field record in the long jump at the Red Hawk Opener hosted by Ripon College Saturday.
Bartlett jumped a best of 4.88 meters (16 feet, ¼ inch) to finish 10th individually in the event. In just her first collegiate track meet, she broke the Lakeland modern era record of 14-2 1/4 (4.32m) set by Vashia Gordon in 2013.
Bartlett also posted a time of 28.28 seconds in the 200 meters to place 16th, and she and fellow Muskies women's soccer two-sport athlete
Emily Guy (
Fr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) had the three best individual finishes for the Lakeland women's team. Guy also finished ninth in the triple jump with a best mark of 8.84m (29-0) and competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 14th in 11.12 seconds.
Travis Eitel (
Sr.-Pine Island, Minn.) posted a top-10 finish for the Muskies men's team, coming in 10th in a large field in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.58.
Marlon Stewart (
Fr.-Manitowoc, Wis.) also came in eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m (5-7) while
John Cole (
Fr.-Manitowoc, Wis.) was 15th in the 60 meters at 7.43 and 20th in the 200 with a time of 24.59.
Kolby Cohen (
Jr.-Missouri City, Texas) also came in 17th in the 60 meters just behind Cole with a time of 7.48.
Lakeland also won its heat in the 4 x 200 relay and finished fourth overall. Cole, Cohen, Eitel and
Gavin Pinchart (
Jr.-De Pere, Wis.) finished with a time of 1:40.60.
Lakeland is back at Ripon again next week for the Dick Hendrick Invite on Saturday with events starting at 11 a.m.
