STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Chloe Bartlett (
Fr.-Canton, Ill.) and
Emily Guy (
Fr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) both improved on school-record marks they set earlier this season and paced the Lakeland University indoor track & field teams on the first day of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships.
Bartlett set a new personal best in the women's long jump and Guy set a new PR in the women's 60-meter hurdles. The two freshmen were the lone Muskie athletes to compete on the first day of the two-day championships being contested at Skyward Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Bartlett finished 10th in the long jump with a best of 16 feet, 1 inch (4.90 meters). She bested her previous school indoor mark of 16-0 1/4 (4.88m) that she achieved on two occasions earlier this season.
Guy also finished 10th in the 60 hurdles preliminaries with a time of 10.79. She just missed qualifying for the finals in the event but cut .14 off of her previous record of 10.93 set two weeks earlier at the Ripon College Dick Hendricks Invite.
Both Bartlett and Guy just missed scoring finishes for the Muskies, with points award to top-8 finishers in each event. St. Norbert College holds the lead in the women's standings with 63.5 points after one day, while Milwaukee School of Engineering (51) holds a slim edge over St. Norbert (47.5) in the men's standings.
The NACC Indoor Championships conclude with competition Saturday. Events begin with the men's heptathlon at 9 a.m., field events opening at 11 a.m. and running events beginning at noon.
