The Lakeland University women's basketball team welcomes the Northern Athletics Collegiate leaders and also becomes the first to face a top-25 team in a conference meeting when it hosts Wisconsin Lutheran College Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies (12-7 overall, 9-5 NACC) have been heating up of late, winning four straight games entering Tuesday, including a 72-58 win over Alverno College on Saturday.
Miranda Jacobson (
Jr.-Felch, Mich.) recorded what is believed to be the first triple-double in school history (18 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) and
Rachel Stankevich (
Sr.-Goodman, Wis.) became the 12th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in a career as Lakeland finished off the Inferno late.
The only team hotter in the NACC has been Wisconsin Lutheran, which comes in undefeated in conference and on a 17-game winning streak that ranks tied for the fourth-longest current streak in NCAA Division III. The Warriors drilled MSOE 80-38 on Saturday, scoring the first 29 points of the game, and on Monday became the first NACCÂ women's basketball team to be ranked in the top 25 in a national poll, appearing at No. 25 in the D3hoops.com top 25 poll.
This is the 68th meeting ever between Lakeland and Wisconsin Lutheran, and the Muskies hold a 44-23 lead in a series that dates back to 1983. The teams have already met once this season, with the Warriors posting a 60-46 win in Milwaukee nearly two months ago on Dec. 5, 2017. Lakeland won the last meeting at the Woltzen Gym, though, toppling WLC 64-52 last season on Feb. 15, 2017 as
Maddy Doll (
Sr.-Florence, Wis.) scored 15 points.
