Lakeland rings in the new year with a visit from Rockford

The Lakeland University women's basketball team begins 2019 at home as it welcomes Rockford University for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (9-2 overall, 5-1 NACC) will look to start 2019 the same way as they finished 2018 as they come in off a 60-47 win over MSOE on Saturday. Lakeland outscored the Raiders 25-8 over a stretch of 10:53 in the second and third quarters and won its sixth straight game as Megan Will (So.-Lake Mills, Wis.) finished with 16 points and nine rebounds and Miranda Jacobson (Sr.-Felch, Mich.) added 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Rockford (1-9 overall, 1-5 NACC) dropped a 99-73 decision at Concordia Chicago 99-73 on Saturday. The Regents led by four after one quarter but the Cougars exploded for 36 points in the second quarter to take a 53-34 halftime lead. Nicole Silvers scored 26 points, draining five three-pointers, and also added 10 rebounds for Rockford, while Linzy Keller added 16 points.
