OAK PARK, Ill. – The Lakeland University women's tennis team came up just shy of its second dual win of the season, winning three matches and coming ever so close to wins in two more in a 6-3 loss to Concordia University Chicago Sunday morning.

Four different players contributed to wins and the Muskies played their most competitive match of the season from top to bottom, including two singles matches going to a third set. Concordia prevailed to improve to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference while Lakeland dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-7 in conference.

The Muskies picked up their first win of the day in doubles with Morgan Erbstoesser (Jr.-Union, Ill.) and Jessica Leicht (Sr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) at Number 3 doubles defeating Jessica Parker and Jacquelyn Rocha 8-4. Lakeland also won twice in singles play, including a comeback victory by Bobainah Cha (Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis.), who rallied after losing the first set to defeat Parker at No. 4 singles 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.

Kallie Hoeft (Jr.-Cascade, Wis.) also added a win at No. 6 singles, defeating Madison Perkins 6-0, 6-3. The Muskies also came very near adding one more win in both doubles and singles. Baylee Babcock (So.-Mauston, Wis.) and Clare Kelnhofer (Fr.-Brandon, Wis.) teamed up for the first time this season at No. 2 doubles and losing a narrow 8-6 decision to Emily Cyrwus and Mackenzie Straulin. Babcock also went to three sets at No. 1 singles against Ali Wingood, winning the first set before falling 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Lakeland closes out its season this Saturday when it hosts St. Norbert College at 10 a.m. at Sports Core in Kohler.
