MARQUETTE, Mich. – Olga Turiy (Fr.-Burbank, Ill.) won a pair of matches as the Lakeland University women's wrestling team competed in a pair of duals against Northern Michigan University Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Education Center.

Northern Michigan won both duals, first defeating the Muskies 38-1 and then taking a 30-10 victory in the second dual.

Turiy was a winner by disqualification over Lydia Krauss at 155 pounds in the teams' second dual. The teams also contested a pair of exhibition matches after the duals, and Turiy claimed a 13-8 victory by decision over Victoria Benedetti at 155 lbs.

Niyasia McCampbell (Fr.-Amarillo, Texas) scored the other points for the Muskies. She pinned Teni Ajayi at 191 lbs. in the second dual, and also scored a point in a 17-4 technical fall loss to Krauss at 170 lbs. in the first dual.

The visit to NMU was a return home for Lakeland head coach Shannyn Gillespie, who spent eight years at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in Marquette on the national staff for U.S. Wrestling.

"NMU and the U.S. Olympic Education Center is where I started as a head coach for women's wrestling, and it was great to see the campus and friends from the past," said Gillespie. "Our ladies are steadily improving by executing the skills we are working on and will learn from these duals."

Lakeland next will host its lone home event of the season, the Lakeland Scramble next Sunday, Jan. 15 starting at 2:30 p.m. Competing teams will be Northern Michigan, Carthage College and Albion (Mich.) College.
