Niyasia McCampbell (
Sr.-Amarillo, Texas) won twice and finished eighth in her class for the Lakeland University women's wrestling team at the Quad Cities Division 3 National Invitational hosted by Augustana (Ill.) College on Saturday and Sunday.
McCampbell won her opening match at 207 pounds with a quick pin of Sonia Ramos of Augsburg (Minn.) University in 35 seconds. After a narrow decision quarterfinal loss, McCampbell edged Kate Riege of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 6-4 before falling in her second consolation round match. McCampbell then lost the seventh-place match to Faith Macharia of Schreiner (Texas) University, with the 4-4 final score decided on tiebreaking criteria in Macharia's favor.
Aubrey Miller-Ramirez (
Fr.-Griffith, Ind.) also went 1-2 at 180 lbs., bouncing back after losing her opener to pin Katie Whelan of Augsburg in 4:26. Miller-Ramirez was eliminated one match later by Caitlyn Flaherty of North Central (Ill.) College by first period fall.
