ALBION, Mich. – Niyasia McCampbell (So.-Amarillo, Texas) continued a good start to her season by winning the championship in the 155-pound class for the Lakeland University women's wrestling team at the Albion College Invitational Sunday.

McCampbell won all four of her matches to best a field of 13 wrestlers in her class. Three of her four wins came by pins, including defeating Hailey Budney of Trine (Ind.) University in 4 minutes, 1 second in the semifinals and then taking down Erika Novak of Hiram (Ohio) College in 1:05 in the final.

McCampbell ran her win streak to eight straight matches over the Muskies' last two events. She also finished 4-0 in Lakeland's home scramble event a week ago and is now 9-2 overall on the season.

McCampbell highlighted a day in which the Muskies had solid showings against a large field of schools, with five wrestlers posting top-6 finishes including three in the top four in their class. Lakeland finished with 45.5 points as a team to place 10th of 17 in the team standings.

Al Ghala Al Radi (Fr.-Niles, Ill.) and Clare Doering (So.-Fenton, Mo.) both went 3-2 in finishing fourth in their respective classes. Al Radi won twice by fall at 143 lbs., including taking down Tatum Levendahl of the University of Dubuque (Iowa) in 2:52 in the consolation semifinal, while Doering recorded three straight pins in the consolation round at 155 lbs., including back-to-back ones by 42 seconds each against Lilian Hernandez of Aurora University and Nahomi Marmolejo of Adrian (Mich.) College.

Charity Mickles (Fr.-Melcher, Iowa) also went 3-2 at 143 lbs., including defeating Levendahl with a pin in 4:26 in the fifth place match. Meara Hayes (So.-Ewing, N.J.) also went 1-3 to finish sixth at 170 lbs., including a pin of Mairead Brock of Alma (Mich.) College in 4:31 in her first match.

Lakeland is off from competition over Thanksgiving weekend and next will compete in the Carthage College Duals Dec. 3 in Kenosha.
