RIVER GROVE, Ill. – Jesse Burg (Fr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) placed fourth in his class and Tyler Lovejoy (Sr.-Brandon, Wis.) won three times to wrestle his way back to a sixth-place finish to pace the Lakeland University men's wrestling team at the Art Kraft Memorial Tournament hosted by Triton (Ill.) College Saturday.

Burg won his first two matches to advance to the semifinals at 141 pounds, both in convincing fashion by technical fall. He then lost an 8-1 decision to Arieh Hart of Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College in the semifinals and then dropped a close 12-10 decision to Ashton Massaro of Triton in the third place match.

Lovejoy came back from a loss in his opening match at 174 lbs. to win three straight matches in the consolation round. He pinned both Rosario Pollina of Elmhurst (Ill.) University and David Cox of Manchester (Ind.) College and then took a 14-1 major decision over Eian Rush of Henry Ford (Mich.) College. He advanced to the match for fifth place before being defeated by Ronald Butler of Indian Hills by technical fall.

Lovejoy and Bryan Romero (Fr.-Riverside, Calif.) both finished sixth in their weight classes. Romero also lost his first match in the quarterfinals at 197 lbs. before winning his next two, defeating Giovanni Rodriguez of Morton (Ill.) College by fall and then besting George Thomason of Manchester in a 10-3 decision. He then lost to Ethan Skinner of Manchester by fall in the fifth-place match.

Nidal Farah (Jr.-Ventura, Calif.) and Evan Haferkorn (Fr.-Norway, Mich.) also were double winners in their classes. Farah won his opener at 184 lbs. over Luke Guerra of Southwestern Michigan Community College with a 5-3 decision before losing to Bennett Eichert of Triton in the quarterfinals. Farah came back for a 9-6 decision over Matt Beck of Muskegon (Mich.) CC before falling to Maximus Comas of Morton 5-1 in the consolation semifinals.

Haferkorn lost his opening match at 165 lbs. in a narrow 3-1 decision to Rodrick Love of Indian Hills but then won his next two matches, defeating Kahled Alkelane and Christopher Durbin both of Morton College. He was finally eliminated losing an 11-6 decision to James Bettcher of Manchester.
