WAUWATOSA, Wis. –
Travis Eitel (
Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school-record time as the Lakeland University outdoor track & field teams competed at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Raabe Stadium Thursday.
Eitel finished the distance run and obstacle race in 11 minutes, 20.45 seconds. He was more than a minute faster than the previous best set by Anthony Romens two years earlier and led the Muskies men's team to a sixth-place finish in the team standings and a team total 22 points.
Dakota Aschenbach (
So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) also posted a third-place finish in the men's high jump with a personal best, finishing at 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches (1.75 meters). He also added a fourth in the javelin throw with a best of 87-4 (26.61m).
Freshman
Jake Lemke (
West Bend, Wis.) added an eighth-place finish in the 400 in his collegiate debut, finishing in 54.77.
Parker Giese (
Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) also added personal records in both the 100 and 200, finishing in 12.37 in the 100 and crossing in 25.79 in the 200.
A record also nearly fell in the women's 800, where freshman
Emma Ziepke (
Manawa, Wis.) came in eighth with a time of 2:34.44. She just missed the previous record of 2:34.03 set by
Nathalie Cairo in 2019.
Ziepke also was eighth in the 1500 with a time of 5:28.90.
Chloe Cunningham (
Sr.-Oviedo, Fla.) also was seventh in the 200 with a time of 33.26 seconds that was a personal best by more than three seconds.
Sahara Gardner (
Jr.-Kewaunee, Wis.) also was 10th in the javelin with a mark of 72-0 (21.96m)
Lakeland is back at WLC again for its next meet with the Green & White Invite Saturday, April 15 starting at 10 a.m.
