MASON CITY, Iowa – Lakeland University's Evan Haferkorn (Fr.-Norway, Mich.), Tyler Lovejoy (Sr.-Brandon, Wis.) and Diego Morales (Fr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) all posted two wins each to highlight the Muskies men's wrestling team's performance at the Battle for the Helmet invite hosted by North Iowa Area Community College Saturday.

Haferkorn won twice at 165 pounds and finished fourth in his weight class. He defeated Irvin Gomez of the host school NIACC with a pin in 6 minutes, 49 seconds in the quarterfinals. After a semifinal loss, Haferkorn bounced back to win an 11-5 decision over teammate David Aragon (Sr.-West Allis, Wis.) before falling to Brock Moore of NIACC 6-3 in the third place match.

Lovejoy posted a 2-2 record at 174 lbs. that included an pin of Rilynn Mayginnes of Ellsworth (Iowa) C.C. in 3:21 in the quarterfinals. Lovejoy also rebounded from a semifinal loss to post a 12-0 major decision over Marco Guzman of NIACC in a consolation semifinal, before falling to Giles Cowell of Ellsworth 14-12 in a hotly contested third-place match.

Morales also went 2-2 at 285 lbs. to join his two teammates in finishing fourth in their classes. Morales pinned Reidyn Serna-Ames of Ellsworth in 1:37 in his first match and also took down Alexis Correa of Harper (Ill.) College in 2:59 in a consolation semifinal. He lost to Farouk Shaaban of Harper by an 18-8 major decision in the third place match.

Aragon and Reagan Bowerman (Fr.-Munising, Mich.) also both picked up one win each on the mat in their classes. Aragon took an 11-4 decision from Gomez in the fifth-place match at 165 lbs., while Bowerman rebounded from an opening loss to pin Caiden Rentz of Ellsworth in 2:17 in the consolation round.

The Muskies are in action again next weekend at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Saturday.
