PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Lucas Schanen (So.-Muskego, Wis.) and Bryan Romero (Fr.-Riverside, Calif.) both earned win to provide the highlights for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team in its dual with Carthage College Thursday on Senior Night for the Muskies.

Schanen and Romero picked up the lone Lakeland wins while Carthage won the dual by a 97-32 score. The dual was scored using experimental rules, with teams earning points for their team score in each match with the exception of pins, where the team with the pin earned six points plus the points accumulated in that match, while the team that lost by pin received no points.

Carthage earned many of its points in the team standings-and limited the Muskies' output-on the strength of four pins. Lakeland earned its only pin early in the card of 11 matches, when Schanen in the third match of the evening took down Tate Stockman in 2 minutes, 31 seconds.

The Muskies added their second win when Romero edged Carthage's Diego Fuentes on a 7-5 decision in a battle at 197 pounds. The Firebirds would win the final four matches and nine matches in all.

Lakeland's biggest score came in a loss, in the second match of the night. David Aragon (Jr.-West Allis, Wis.) held the lead at multiple points in his match before falling to Dylan Konkey of Carthage 15-10 at 165 lbs.

The Muskies honored two seniors before the match, with Shoichi Hashimoto (Katori, Chiba, Japan) and Tyler Lovejoy (Brandon, Wis.) both recognized.

The Muskies next will face Milwaukee School of Engineering in a dual next Friday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in Milwaukee.
