STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Wyatt Raab (So.-Spalding, Mich.) picked up a win to provide a highlight for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team Friday at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Raab bounced back from a major decision loss in his first match at 149 pounds to record a pin of Wyatt Willey of UW-Platteville in 2 minutes, 10 seconds. Raab was eliminated one round later with a loss to Riese Thornberry of UW-Stevens Point by fall, ending the furthest advancement of a Muskie at the regional.

The young Muskies struggled against strong competition in the regional. After Raab's win, Jesse Burg (Fr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) was the closest to picking up a win. Burg lost his second match in a 7-6 decision to Alec Schmacht of UW-Platteville, and also nearly went the distance in his first match before going down by fall to Emilio Acosta of Concordia University Wisconsin in 6:56.

The competition was the final one for two seniors: Shoichi Hashimoto (Katori, Chiba, Japan) and Tyler Lovejoy (Brandon, Wis.), the latter of who competed at 174 lbs. and lost both of his matches, concluding his career with a loss to Francisco Endi of Pacific (Ore.) University.
