MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Niyasia McCampbell (Jr.-Amarillo, Texas) and Khalila Corry (Jr.-Shelby, N.C.) both posted top four finishes in their classes to lead the Lakeland University women's wrestling team as it competed at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational Saturday.

McCampbell placed third at 180 pounds and Corry came in fourth at 207 lbs. at the event hosted by Cornell (Iowa) College. The two were joined by Francelle Williams (Fr.-Jacksonville, Fla.) giving the Muskies three top-8 finishers of six wrestlers competing in the event.

McCampbell had the biggest day, winning five of six matches for a hard-earned placement finish. She won her opening match by technical fall over Alex Parks of Eureka (Ill.) College before a loss to Kami Senlycki of Wartburg (Iowa) College in the quarterfinals. McCampbell would come back to win four more matches, though, working all the way through the consolation bracket and defeating Izzy Strickert of Wartburg via a 6-1 decision in the third-place match.

Corry finished with a 2-2 record at 207 lbs., including opening with a 6-2 quarterfinal decision over Cynthia Ellis of Iowa Central Community College. Corry lost a slim 2-1 decision to Morgan Miller of Simpson (Iowa) College in the semifinals, came back with a pin in the consolation semifinals before losing a 5-1 decision to Christina Page of Central Methodist (Mo.) University in the third-place match.

Williams also picked up a win to finish 1-2 at 207 lbs. and placing seventh in the class. She lost twice before a pin of Ellis of Iowa Central C.C. in 4 minutes, 1 second in the seventh-place match.

Lakeland next will participate in the Quad Cities Division III Invitational Feb. 8-9 in East Moline, Ill.
