MEQUON, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's wrestling team earned its first dual win over rival Concordia University Wisconsin in more than seven years, earning a 30-22 win Thursday night at CUW's R. John Buuck Fieldhouse.
The Muskies went on a run of five straight pins in the middle weights and won a dual for the first time this season. Lakeland spoiled the hosts' Senior Night, defeating the Falcons for the first time since a 28-19 win over Concordia Nov. 9, 2017.
The Muskies lost the first two contested matches at 133 and 141 pounds before
Jesse Burg (
So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) defeated Mason Markham by fall in 2 minutes, 34 seconds at 149 lbs.
Dillon Raab (
So.-Spalding, Mich.) followed with another quick pin over William Harrier in 2:06 at 157 lbs., and
Evan Haferkorn (
So.-Norway, Mich.) put Lakeland ahead with a pin of Frank Budederi at 165 lbs. in 4:36.
Fulton Stroud (
Fr.-Iron Mountain, Mich.) followed by topping T.J. Mackey at 174 lbs. by fall in 5:58.
Jax Lipnitz (
Fr.-St. Ignace, Mich.) then registered what proved to be the clinching win with a pin at 184 lbs., defeating Dawson Galvan in just 1:01.
The Muskies are in action again Friday with another dual, taking on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on the road in Oshkosh at 6 p.m.
