EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Lakeland University women's wrestling team notched a trio of top-five finishes at the 8-Woman Battles hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday.

Niyasia McCampbell (Sr.-Amarillo, Texas) and Aubrey Miller-Ramirez (Fr.-Griffith, Ind.) finished third and fourth, respectively, at 207 pounds. Raynisha Sims (Fr.-Chicago, Ill.) also came in fifth at 131 lbs. as three of the five Muskies competing in the event that was part of a big day at UWEC that also included the 8-Man Battles on the men's side.

McCampbell finished with a 3-2 record in her class, that included a pair of wins by decision in the opening round, first by a 7-2 score over Alivia Davey of Illinois Wesleyan University and then edging Savannah Sistad of Simpson (Iowa) College 3-1. She then defeated Miller-Ramirez by technical fall in the third-place match.

Miller-Ramirez posted a 2-3 record that included wins in her first two matches. She defeated Sonia Ramos of Augsburg (Minn.) University 8-2 and then topped Morgan Congo of Illinois Wesleyan 8-0.

Sims posted a 4-1 record on the day, with all four of her wins coming by fall. Her lone loss came in the quarterfinals, but Sims bounced back to pin Jaiden McLaren of Buena Vista (Iowa) College in 3:20 and then took down Paige Haaf of Augsburg in the fifth-place match.

Lakeland is now off until after Thanksgiving, next taking part in the Carthage College Classic Sunday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. in Kenosha.
