Lydia Levra (
Fr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) won the women's 400-meter dash as part of a strong debut for the Lakeland University track & field team as it opened its outdoor season at the St. Norbert College Early Bird Invite Thursday.
Levra posted a time of 1:00.76 in the 400 to best a field of 12 competitors. The freshman was competing her first meet for the Muskies track & field team, joining the squad after competing on the Lakeland women's basketball team, and she posted the best time even while running in the slower of two heats.
Levra also came in third in the women's 200 meters with a time of 27.27, again winning her heat and finishing .85 behind overall winner Madi Crossman of St. Norbert. She also came in eighth in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 13.45.
Emily Guy (
So.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) also added a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:16.38. Guy and Levra helped the Lakeland women's team to a fourth-place finish of six teams with 25 points scored. The Muskies' men's team also came in fourth on its side with 33 points scored.
The Lakeland men's squad received its top finish from
Jake Lemke (
Jr.-West Bend, Wis.), who came home second in the javelin. Lemke unleashed a best throw of 145 feet (44.20 meters).
Dunia Wangu (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.), who came in third in the 100 with a time of 11.72.
Parker Giese (
Jr.-West Bend, Wis.) also came in fifth in the 100 with a time of 12.46.
Morgan Caho (
Fr.-Canton, Ill.) also placed fifth in both the 200 (23.64) and 400 (55.58).
Preston Dos Santos (
Fr.-Random Lake, Wis.) also finished sixth in the long jump with a best of 20-10 (6.35m).
Lakeland next will compete at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday, April 5, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Raabe Stadium in Wauwatosa.
