SUPERIOR, Wis. –
Roger Sauvage (
Sr.-Seattle, Wash.) shot his lowest round for the Lakeland University men's golf team as part of a top-10 finish and the Muskies finished in the middle of the pack at the Twin Ports Collegiate hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior at Nemadji Golf Course.
Sauvage tied for seventh individual with a two-day score of 149 and Lakeland finished seventh of 13 teams competing in the event which concluded Sunday. The Muskies shot scores of 309 and 316 for a total of 625, slipping back to spots on the final day after ranking fifth after Saturday's first round on the par-72, 6,575-yard course.
Sauvage shot a first-round score of 74 for his lowest round as a Muskie, a round that included an eagle 2 on the par-4, 312-yard fourth hole. He also added birdies on the 15th and 18th holes, finishing with a score of one-under 35 on the second nine holes after shooting 39 on the first nine.
Sauvage then wrapped up on Sunday with a round of 75 that included a consistent first nine with eight pars followed by two birdies on the back nine. He birdied the par-4, 356-yard 15th holes both days and added a birdie on Sunday on the par-3, 173-yard 17th.
Kaiden Dopp (
Jr.-Wild Rose, Wis.) was the next-best finisher for Lakeland, shooting scores of 77 and 80 for a total of 157 to tie for 26th. Dopp opened with a pair of birdies in his first round on Saturday and then finished with 10 pars as part of his second and final round.
Brandon Bloechel (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) shot consistent rounds of 80 and 79 for a total of 159 to finish tied for 35th. Bloechel recorded two birdies in his first round, both on the front nine, and added 11 pars in his second round.
Parker Braun (
Jr.-Brillion, Wis.) tied for 40th with a score of 160. Braun shot a round of 78 on Saturday and added an 82 on Sunday that included an up-and-down front nine with two birdies mixed with three bogeys and a double bogey.
Ayden Long (
So.-Oostburg, Wis.) also finished 75th with a score of 178. Long's second round was the better of the two with an 87 that included a birdie on the par-4, 350-yard 10th hole.
