Roger Sauvage (
Sr.-Seattle, Wash.) closed his career by posting the best individual finish for the Lakeland University men's golf team, which finished its season at the Bryant & Stratton College Legends Classic which concluded Friday.
Sauvage finished with a two-day score of 165 to tie for 23rd individually, including rounds of 85 on Thursday and 80 on Friday. The 36-hole event including the first round played at The Bull in Sheboygan Falls with the second round at The Bog in Saukville.
Sauvage closed with a final round that included three birdies in a span of five holes of the course. He posted a three on the par-4, 409-yard seventh hole, birdied the par-5, 521-yard ninth hole, and added a two on the short 142-yard par-3 11th.
Brandon Bloechel (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) also improved on the second day to finish tied for 40th with a score of 172 that included rounds of 89 and 83. Bloechel's generally steady second 18 included a birdie on the par-4, 398-yard third hole.
Ayden Long (
So.-Oostburg, Wis.) shot rounds of 90 and 87 to place 46th, and his second round included birdies on the par-3 11th and 13th holes.
Isaiah Gueths (
Sr.-Marion, Wis.) posted rounds of 92 and 99 for a total of 191, and
Parker Braun (
Jr.-Brillion, Wis.) led Lakeland with an opening round of 82 at The Bull but was a scratch for the second round.
Sauvage finished with a 79.0 stroke average over 18 holes to lead Lakeland on the season, edging Bloechel (79.7) for team honors.
