FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University won three of five contested matches to defeat the Lakeland University men's golf team in the Battle for Highway 23 match play event hosted by Marian at Whispering Springs Golf Club Tuesday.
The Sabres defeated the Muskies 3.5 to 1.5, with Lakeland winning one match and tying another.
Roger Sauvage (
Sr.-Seattle, Wash.) earned the one win for the Muskies, defeating Marian's Ty Bunkoske one-up in the No. 2 match.
Ayden Long (
So.-Oostburg, Wis.) also earned half a point for Lakeland by halving the No. 5 match with the Sabres' Brett Ramme.
Parker Braun (
Jr.-Brillion, Wis.) just missed a victory that would've evened the final team totals, with his match with Tyler Fromolz of Marian going down to the final hole before Fromolz won one-up.
