PLYMOUTH, Wis. –
Niyasia McCampbell (
Sr.-Amarillo, Texas) celebrated her Senior Day with a first-place finish in her weight class to lead the Lakeland University women's wrestling team at its home scramble event of the season held Sunday at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
McCampbell finished 3-0 at 207 pounds, including a 4-1 decision win over Kate Riege of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in her opener. She also topped teammate
Aubrey Miller-Ramirez (
Fr.-Griffith, Ind.) with a 14-4 technical fall, and then added a 10-0 tech fall victory over Jasmin Ocampo of Carthage College to close her day.
McCampbell led Lakeland to a total of 36 team points on the day. The Muskies tied for fourth of eight teams competing, with UW-Stevens Point winning the team title with 132 points.
Six Lakeland wrestlers competed in all, and
Raynisha Sims (
Fr.-Chicago, Ill.) and
Katerina (Kc) Conrad (
Jr.-Des Plaines, Ill.) both added two wins each in their respective classes. Sims won twice at 131 lbs., including pins of Kylee Shoop of Upper Iowa University and Olivia Ramirez of UW-Stevens Point on the way to finishing fourth in her class. Conrad won her third match at 138 lbs. with a 13-2 tech fall over Randi Campe of Eureka (Ill.) College), and then defeated Campe again 12-1 in the seventh-place match.
Lakeland travels for its next event this coming Sunday when it goes to Elmhurst (Ill.) University for the Al Hanke Invite in Elmhurst, Ill., with events starting at 9:30 a.m.
