RIPON, Wis. –
Patrick Reilly (
Fr.-Brookfield, Wis.) finished third in the men's 400 meters with a strong season-best time to lead the Lakeland University men's and women's track & field teams recorded three top-10 finishes at the Dick Hendricks Invite hosted by Ripon College Saturday.
Reilly finished the 400 in 54.28 seconds, well over a second better than his previous season-best time and leading a number of season bests for the Muskies. He scored six points in the event, helping the Muskies men's team to a total of 16 points to place ninth among teams at the meet.
Lakeland also added a third in the men's 4 x 200-meter relay. Competing in the event for the first time this season, Reilly,
Morgan Caho (
So.-Canton, Ill.),
Preston Dos Santos (
So.-Random Lake, Wis.) and
Demarion Johnson (
So.-Chicago Ridge, Ill.) teamed up to finish in 1:39.41.
Caho also posted a fifth-place finish in the high jump and finished with his top jump of the season, clearing 5 feet, 10 3/4 inches (1.80 meters). He also added an 11th in the 200, a tenth of a second off his previous best this season with a time of 23.87.
Dos Santos also placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 19-6 3/4 (5.96m).
Tayetum Southworth (
Fr.-Elkhart Lake, Wis.) also placed 15th in the 800 and took more than three seconds off his previous top time of the season, finishing in 2:11.15.
The Muskies women's team was led by
Elise Torrenga (
Fr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.), who scored the team's lone point in the 800. Torrenga finished in 2:33.83, almost 10 seconds better than her previous best time in a competition this season.
Emily Guy (
Jr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) came in 20th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.72.
Nailah Jones (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) also came in 26th in the 60-meter dash in 9.15.
Lakeland competes again this next weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Classic in Somers, Wis., with events beginning at 10 a.m.
