RIPON, Wis. –
Emily Guy (
Jr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) just missed qualifying for the finals in the women's 60-meter hurdles, posting one of the best results for the Lakeland University men's & women's track & field teams on the opening day of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships.
Guy finished ninth in the hurdles with a time of 11 seconds even, a season best by six tenths of a second and just off her personal best of 10.93 set last year. She finished one spot out of qualifying for Saturday's final in the event.
Guy also came in 15th in the 60-meter dash, running the event for the first time this season and crossing in 8.77 seconds.
Nailah Jones (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) wasn't far behind in the event in 18th with a season-best time of 8.97.
Morgan Caho (
So.-Canton, Ill.) paced a group of four for Lakeland competing in the men's 60-meter dash. Caho finished 21st in 7.36 seconds, just below his previous season best.
Dunia Wangu (So.-Tanzania) was 26th finishing in 7.44,
Demarion Johnson (
So.-Chicago Ridge, Ill.) crossed in 7.46 and
Preston Dos Santos (
So.-Random Lake, Wis.) finished in 7.85.
The NACC Indoor Championships continue Saturday, with events starting at 9 a.m.
