Preston Dos Santos (
So.-Random Lake, Wis.) and
Morgan Caho (
So.-Canton, Ill.) both posted individual top-five finishes as the Lakeland University men's and women's track & field teams opened their outdoor season with the St. Norbert College Early Bird Meet Saturday at Schneider Stadium.
Dos Santos finished fourth in the men's long jump with a best of 19 feet, 5 1/2 inches (5.93 meters). Caho tied for fourth in the men's 100 meters with a personal-best time of 11.34 seconds, and also was fourth in the 200 meters with another PR of 23.41.
The two led the Lakeland men's team to a fifth-place finish in the team standings with 28.5 points as a team. The Muskies scored points in six different events, including a best finish of second in the 4 x 100 relay, where Caho, Dos Santos,
Demarion Johnson (
So.-Chicago Ridge, Ill.) and
Dunia Wangu (
So.-Tanzania) finished in 45.16 seconds, less than two-tenths behind the winning team from St. Norbert.
Caho added another scoring finish in the high jump, taking sixth with a best of 5-8 3/4 (1.75m). Wangu also finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 23.79 and
Patrick Reilly (
Fr.-Brookfield, Wis.) was eighth in the 400, crossing in 56.68.
Kaitlyn Feldmann (
Fr.-Elkhart Lake, Wis.) recorded the best finish for the Lakeland women's team and all four of its points by taking fifth in the high jump with a season-best mark of 4-7 1/2 (1.41m).
Emily Guy (
Jr.-Glendale Heights, Ill.) also took ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 14.28 while
Nailah Jones (
Fr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) was behind her in 10th with a time of 14.93.
Lakeland next will go to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Green & White Invite this coming Thursday starting at 10 a.m. in Wauwatosa.
